Richard D. Deverell is a Ph.D. candidate at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where his dissertation focuses on the Comics Code Authority as a case study of mass media censorship in postwar America. He is a 2019-2020 Swann Fellow at the Library of Congress and received his M.A. in U.S. history from the College at Brockport, where his thesis examined Captain America and Superman comics during World War II.
